Puja's words on self love

Written by: Puja

People usually say that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” However, I do not believe that. Every(BODY) is beautiful in their unique way, and no one has the right to judge you based on your appearance. Usually, people are put into categories like height, weight, and color of your skin and based off that people judge. Society has a way of talking about beauty, and it is a double standard. For instance, some people view that being short is beautiful, while others believe being tall is.

Personal Story:

I am 5’2" and a half, and I have grown to love that about myself. However, as I got older, I would always hear comments like “get taller” “you are too short” and even “why are you short?” At one point I thought me being on the shorter side was a bad feature that I had. People will always have something to say, and it can be demeaning.

Even though I have heard these comments, people have also said positive things about my height as well. What I do is remember the positive comments and ignore the negative comments. I have accepted who I am and love being the way that I am.

I still like to improve myself though, and I do that by working out. Exercising is important for your mental and physical health!

My sisters and I all have very different bodies, but that makes us who we are.

In our society body shaming is something that will never go away and the best thing to do is ignore what others say and to be yourself! :)
